The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
"None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself."
Where do we stand in relation to this hadith?
Have we truly understood that faith is loving for our brother what we love for ourselves? It is a real measure of the heart’s condition—distinguishing between sincere love and false love.
There is a vast difference between words and actions. Implementing the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) requires striving against one’s own soul and not giving in to its desires.
Your attitude towards your brother reveals the sincerity of the love between you. If you are truthful and sincere with your brother, you are upon great goodness in the sight of Allah. But if your brother responds to this love and sincerity in an unbefitting manner, then he is the one who will be held accountable before Allah.
It is enough honor and dignity for you that you were truthful in your love and feelings toward your brother for the sake of Allah.
