Iftar in Philippines When Empty Hands Found Food and Comfort

As the sky dimmed over the Philippines, families sat on simple mats and concrete floors, whispering prayers while waiting for the call to break their fast. The day had been long, and hunger weighed heavily especially on the youngest. Mothers gently brushed their children’s hair back from their faces, reassuring them that food was coming. Fathers stared quietly at the horizon, carrying the silent burden of providing in difficult times.

When the iftar meals finally arrived, the atmosphere shifted in an instant. What had been tension and uncertainty turned into visible relief. Some parents held the food close to their chest for a brief second, overcome with gratitude. Children’s eyes widened at the sight of a warm meal prepared for them. The first bite brought comfort not only to their bodies, but to their hearts. In that moment, it wasn’t just about eating it was about feeling cared for, remembered, and valued.

This emotional evening of giving was made possible through the Lily Jay Foundation, whose support continues to reach families in their most vulnerable moments. Through every shared meal at sunset, hope is restored and faith is strengthened. And as long as there are families waiting with empty plates and hopeful hearts, we will continue to stand beside them.
