At Sunset in Gaza, Families Finally Break Their Fast

As the evening call to prayer echoed across Gaza, families prepared to end their day of fasting during Ramadan. In many homes, the moments before iftar were filled with quiet anticipation as parents and children gathered together, grateful to have food to share after a long day without eating or drinking.

Across several communities, we spent the day organizing and delivering food so that families could take part in the evening meal. In recent months, many households have faced increasing challenges accessing basic necessities, making it difficult for some to prepare even a simple meal for iftar. For parents observing Ramadan, the ability to place food on the table for their children at sunset carries deep emotional importance.

Through the support of the LilyJay Foundation, food assistance reached families who needed it most. The packages provided essential ingredients that allowed households to prepare traditional iftar dishes and sit together as the fast ended. Children waited beside their parents as the sun went down, and once the fast was broken, families shared the meal in a moment of calm and gratitude.

For many people in Gaza, the gathering around the iftar table is one of the most meaningful parts of Ramadan. The LilyJay Foundation shared that supporting these meals is part of their ongoing humanitarian work, helping ensure that families can observe the holy month with dignity and that communities continue to feel support during challenging times.
