Breaking the Fast Breaking the Hardship in Sudan

The sky over Sudan turned deep orange as families sat quietly, waiting for the call to prayer. It had been a long day of fasting, but for many, the hunger did not begin at dawn it had been there for days. Mothers felt the weakness in their children’s small bodies. Fathers carried the silent weight of worry, wondering how they would place food before their families. As sunset approached, the fear of breaking the fast with nothing at all hung heavily in the air.

When the iftar meals were finally placed into their hands, emotion overwhelmed the moment. Some parents lowered their heads, tears slipping down their faces in relief. Children stared at the warm plates before them, their eyes wide with disbelief and gratitude. The first sip of water felt like life returning. The first bite of food felt like mercy. In that sacred moment, hunger loosened its grip, and hope quietly took its place.

This deeply moving evening was made possible through the Lily Jay Foundation, whose compassion continues to reach vulnerable families in their darkest hours. By providing warm iftar meals, the foundation is restoring more than strength it is restoring dignity, faith, and the reassurance that no one is forgotten. And as long as families wait at sunset with empty plates and hopeful hearts, we will continue to stand beside them.
