Flooding in Gaza Disrupts Aid Delivery as Light Rain Overwhelms Fragile Infrastructure

ree

Gaza experienced flooding again today as even a small amount of rainfall led to significant disruption across several areas. Due to the lack of functioning infrastructure and proper drainage systems, rainwater accumulated quickly, turning roads into inaccessible pathways and surrounding displacement tents with mud and standing water.

Our field team attempted to deliver assistance to families living in temporary shelters, but the trucks were unable to reach the designated locations. Flooded roads made entry impossible, forcing the team to halt distribution for the day. Many families remain inside water-logged tents, facing difficult conditions as they try to keep their belongings dry and protect themselves from the cold.

These recurring floods highlight the ongoing humanitarian challenges faced by displaced communities in Gaza. Without stable housing or adequate infrastructure, even minimal rainfall results in severe disruption to daily life and humanitarian operations.

Our team will reassess conditions and resume deliveries as soon as the roads become safe and accessible. We continue to monitor the situation closely and remain committed to supporting the affected families.
