Families in a rural community in Nepal are celebrating the completion of a new clean water well, providing hundreds of residents with reliable access to safe drinking water for the first time in years. Community members gathered as local workers and volunteers officially opened the newly constructed well, which is expected to serve children, parents, and elderly residents who previously traveled long distances to collect unsafe water from rivers and ponds.
For many families, access to clean water has been a daily struggle. Residents described waking up before sunrise to walk for hours carrying heavy containers, often returning home with contaminated water that placed children at risk of illness and disease.
Children were seen filling containers and laughing around the new water point as families collected fresh water throughout the day. Local mothers expressed relief, saying the well will help improve health conditions and reduce the burden placed on women and young girls responsible for gathering water each day.
This clean water project was made possible through the support of the Lily Jay Foundation, helping provide sustainable access to safe drinking water for vulnerable communities in Nepal.
