A new storm is expected to hit Gaza, bringing heavy rain, freezing temperatures, and strong winds further worsening the already devastating conditions faced by hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians.
Most families are currently living in makeshift displacement camps, where temporary tents offer little to no protection against harsh winter weather. Recent reports indicate that the vast majority of these tents have been damaged or destroyed by severe rain and cold, leaving families exposed to freezing nights and unsafe living conditions.
Nearly all of Gaza’s population has been forced from their homes after more than two years of relentless conflict. With homes destroyed and infrastructure shattered, displaced families have no option but to remain in fragile shelters that cannot withstand winter storms.
The ongoing winter has already proven deadly. Dozens of people many of them children have reportedly died from cold exposure, while hospitals are overwhelmed with patients suffering from hypothermia and other cold-related illnesses. Elderly people, children, and the sick are especially vulnerable as temperatures continue to drop.
Meteorological authorities have warned of frost and freezing conditions in the coming days, raising fears that the situation will further deteriorate. For families who have already endured months of displacement, hunger, and exhaustion, this winter storm is another cruel blow.
As Gaza braces for more extreme weather, the need for immediate shelter, heating, and humanitarian support has never been more urgent. Without swift action, countless lives remain at risk not from bombs alone, but from cold, exposure, and neglect.
