Another Sunset, Another Blessing: Iftar Brings Relief to Sudan

Tears glistened in tired eyes as the call to prayer echoed across the sky in Sudan. All day, families had carried the weight of hunger in silence not knowing if there would be anything to break their fast with when the sun disappeared. Mothers held their children close, whispering comfort into empty stomachs. Fathers stood quietly, hiding their worry behind steady expressions. In those final moments before iftar, the air felt heavy with both exhaustion and faith.

When the meals were finally placed into their hands, relief washed over the crowd. Some raised their hands in prayer, others simply looked down at the food in disbelief. For many, this was the only full meal they would have. Children who had been weak from fasting slowly began to smile, their energy returning with each bite. The simple act of sitting together and sharing warm food restored something deeper than physical strength it restored dignity, hope, and a sense of belonging.

This heartfelt iftar initiative was made possible through the Lily Jay Foundation, whose compassion continues to reach vulnerable families during their most difficult days. In a time when uncertainty surrounds so many households, these meals are more than nourishment they are a reminder that mercy still exists, and that no family should face hunger alone.
