Water Delivered to Gaza Today

ree

Clean water was delivered to communities in Gaza today, providing urgent relief to families facing extreme shortages after weeks of disruption to water systems.

Damage to infrastructure, ongoing power cuts, and fuel shortages have left many people without reliable access to safe drinking water. Families have been forced to ration what little water they have, often prioritising drinking over washing and sanitation. In overcrowded shelters, this lack of clean water increases the risk of disease and puts added pressure on already stretched health services.

Lily Jay from WaterAid said today’s delivery is a critical step in protecting lives. “When water systems collapse, people suffer first and fastest,” she said. “This delivery gives families a chance to drink safely and maintain basic hygiene, but the situation remains incredibly fragile.”

The water delivered today will be used for drinking, cooking, and essential hygiene, helping to reduce immediate health risks. However, the scale of need across Gaza remains vast, with many communities still struggling to access enough clean water each day.

WaterAid continues to work with partners to support emergency water deliveries and to advocate for sustained, safe access to water. In Gaza, clean water is more than aid — it is a lifeline.
