At Sunset in Sudan: The Moment Hunger Turns Into Gratitude

As the sun slowly disappeared beyond the dusty horizon in Sudan today, families gathered quietly, waiting for the call to prayer that signals the end of a long day of fasting. The air carried a mixture of anticipation and gratitude. Mats were laid on the ground, plates carefully arranged, and cups of water passed gently from hand to hand.

For many, this iftar was more than just a meal. It was a moment of relief.

Children sat close together, their eyes lighting up as the first dates were shared. Some whispered soft “thank you” between bites, their small voices filled with appreciation. Others smiled shyly while holding their bowls, savoring each mouthful as if it were something precious. The simple act of eating together brought warmth that no hardship could take away.

This evening of compassion and shared humanity was made possible through the generosity and dedication of our supporters and donors. At Lily Jay Foundation, we are honored to stand with these communities and help bring warmth, nourishment, and hope to families in Sudan during this blessed time of iftar.
