Despite Ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon, Netanyahu Signals the War Is Far From Over

Ceasefires may exist on paper, but the reality on the ground tells a very different story. In both Gaza and Lebanon, Israeli attacks have continued almost uninterrupted, raising serious questions about the meaning—and purpose—of these agreements.

Lebanon: A Ceasefire Undermined by Missiles
On Tuesday, Israeli forces targeted Ain al-Hilweh, the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, killing at least 13 people with two missiles. That same day, a drone strike in Bint Jbeil killed another person. Just 24 hours later, airstrikes hit villages across southern Lebanon.
All of this comes despite an official ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.
Gaza: The Bombardment Continues
In Gaza, the situation is no different. Israeli air raids and drone attacks have persisted, with at least 23 Palestinians killed on Wednesday alone in strikes on Gaza City, Rafah, and Khan Younis.
The ceasefire that was supposed to end more than two years of war has not stopped the violence. Since it went into effect, Israel has killed over 280 Palestinians.
“The War Has Not Ended” — Netanyahu Makes It Clear
In a speech to the Knesset on November 10—exactly one month after the Gaza ceasefire—Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the war “has not ended,” claiming that Israel’s enemies are rearming. His words reflect what has already been visible: Israel is continuing military operations across the region, ceasefires notwithstanding.
A Region Declared ‘At Peace’ — But Not in Reality
On October 13, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump gathered leaders from more than two dozen countries in Sharm el-Sheikh and proclaimed, “At long last, we have peace in the Middle East.”
Yet, barely a month later, Israeli attacks in both Gaza and Lebanon continue on a near-daily basis. The death toll from Israel’s war on Gaza since October 7 has climbed to 69,513 Palestinians.
International Pressure Grows
Human rights groups, legal experts, and scholars around the world continue to warn that Israel’s actions amount to genocide. Israeli human rights organizations have echoed these alarms, adding to the mounting global pressure.
Conclusion: A Ceasefire Without Peace
Despite official agreements, declarations, and diplomatic ceremonies, Israel’s military operations have continued across Gaza, Lebanon, and the West Bank. Netanyahu’s own statements make it clear: the ceasefires have not brought peace—only a temporary pause on paper, while the reality remains defined by ongoing violence.
